Answer

Obsessions are a warning.

No, a prediction.

A fate you can’t avoid.

But you do. I do, I always do.

What if I don’t? What if I can’t?

Then, obsessions are a question.

The question. Am I a good person?

Answer it. If you dare.

Or don’t, just fuck off.

Back to the worry, to the concern.

A balcony, a bridge, a knife in a dishwasher.

Fall, jump, stab.

Those are the ones. Light enough to write.

Whilst the darkest stay with me.

Up here. Bouncing. Laughing. Screaming.

So, obsessions are a companion?

Yes, I suppose.

Never not, never here. Always close, always near.

The remedy is unclear.

The tablets make you fat. The tablets make you quiet.

The tablets make a dull boy.

So write. Think, shock, the words come.

They swallow them.

And that’s the answer, that’s the trick.

Find something that works.

Hopefully it will stick.

Obsession? Yeah, writing.
